These beautiful Australian Shepherd ‘Sheilas’ are a year old and are pedigree with the fantastic names of Give me Chance and Give me Freedom. Chipped and vaccinated, they will be sterilised before gong to new homes.

Bruno De Juras
One of these beauties has been adopted and the other is very lonely and hoping that each visitor is coming to adopt her !
Go on, turn away from this little face if you can !! And the good news is that there are two of them !! Bruno de Juras make the most wonderful pets. Gentle, loving and loyal I just love them. These two were probably dumped because of their short tails – “not quite up to scratch don’t you know” !!! Six months old they are chipped and vaccinated.
08/04/2013 At last, this lovely girl is reserved and has the great name of Jess !!
Wesley
Fantastic news ! Wesley has been adopted and is a much much happier dog !
12 year old Wesley here is a sweetheart. The lovely people at Twighlight took him in when he was perilously close to death row at a refuge. He is in good health, has all his jabs and is neutered. The sad thing is that poor Wesley is not happy at Twighlight and doesn’t like all the other dogs around. He is in fact a lap dog in Brittany Spaniel clothing, he just wants his owner to himself alone. Twighlight have asked us for help in finding him a loving home where he can live out the rest of his days calm and happy. Please someone ?
Black Labrador-Like Puppies
Look at these little cuties. Two females and three males. Just over two months old they are ready and waiting to go to new homes. They are with the owners, who only heard about Poorpaws recently, otherwise they would have been in touch when the pups were younger. They are in the Aveyron and you can get in contact with Jemma direct on 0565656982 / actingangel123@hotmail.com. No money needs to change hands but you must agree to get your pup vaccinated and chipped – and NEUTERED when he/she is old enough.
Poorpaws will cough up for chips and vaccinations if it helps. Situation now desperate !
Polly
This beauty is six year old Polly. A little on the chunky side because she lives surrounded by walnut trees and snacks constantly ! I can understand you Polly, I would have a few extra kilos if i was surrounded by walnuts ! Polly is a very loved dog but her owner often has to leave her in order to deal with family problems in the UK. Polly was left with another family but her owner has been told that she is not being treated kindly. So, we are looking for a foster home or forever home for Polly who is a darling girl, very laid back, not a wanderer and has a very gentle nature. Polly is sterilised and chipped – and will hopefully slim down a bit when removed from the walnuts !!
Harry and Holly

For those of you who only like pedigree dogs……………………turn away ! Here we have Harry and Holly, two absolute pure mongrels !! Heaven knows what mix they are and they can’t tell us who Mum and Dad were. Dumped unceremoniously in someone’s garden they don’t give a monkeys, just so long as they can play, sleep and eat in whatever order they feel like. Very, very friendly, to see them is to love them !
Untitled
Adopted!
Well this handsome young lad has to be one of the finest we have had to find a home for. At just about 5 months he really is a super dog. Very intelligent, very loving he obviously has Golden Lab in him and his golden hazel eyes are just to die for. Already neutered he is ready to make your life that bit better !
Flocon
Adopted!

All you Jack Russell lovers out there here is one out of the ordinary – she has the sweetest, gentlest of characters !! I’m not a JR fan, having been bitten by the little perishers more than once, but Flocon (Snowflake) here is a darling. Barely 2 years old we think, Flocon was found by someone. We couldn’t believe that such a super little dog could have been abandoned but all efforts to find her owners have failed so she is up for adoption. if you like the look of her, don’t hesitate, these littluns go quickly.

Fany
Adopted!

Fany, a beautiful 18 month female border collie abandoned (or lost) in Prayssac. Fany spent a week at the vets there to avoid putting her into the already overcrowded refuge, then came to us. A lovely girl who attaches herself quickly to whoever may be her new family – to the point where she would climb Everest to be with you. So, we are looking for a home where there is someone present most of the time, in a non-working, or working from home family. Fany is chipped, vaccinated and sterilised.

Helia
Adopted

This little girl, Helia, is a true darling. I spent the afternoon with her the other day and could hardly bear to leave without her. Helia a dachshundx is just three months old and was given up for adoption by some gypsies who were moving on. A real ‘mummy’s girl’ she just adores cuddles and I’m sure she’s heading for a life full of those !
Puppies
Guapa and Dolce
ADOPTED

Ok for those of you who like the ‘biggies’, this gorgeous six month old ‘Newfie’ is waiting for you at the Cahors Refuge. Dolce is the only one left out of three pups and is missing her siblings so desperately wants a new family of her own. These huge dogs need a lot of grooming so we are looking for someone with experience of the breed.
We also have a 2 year old male who needs a home as his owner cannot give him the attention he needs and wants due to work commitments.
Venard
Going to a new home in August

This is indeed a sad story and we are hoping against hope that someone out there will take pity on poor Venard. At 8 years old Venard has had a great life up to now. He is gentle, loving and obediant and from living every dog’s dream he is now confined to living in a laundry room in an apartment in Paris because a new baby has developed skin problems and is running the risk of becoming asthmatic because of an allergy to poor Venard. Poorpaws would have taken him without question if we didn’t have two large male dogs who don’t take kindly to new males in the pack. My heart is breaking for Venard and I do so hope that we can find him a new home. His owner will pay all transport costs to wherever a home can be found.

Australian Shepherd Puppies

Now I don’t usually put puppies for sale on the website but this is a one off litter and Poorpaws has been offered a donation for each one sold through the website. I tell you, I have no shame when it comes to getting money for the dogs !! Australian Shepherds (dogs that is, not two legged ones !) are the most fabulous dogs (see Fashion below), intelligent and affectionate as well as being beautiful. These are for sale at 450 euros each and will be ready mid July and will leave vaccinated and chipped. If you are interested, contact me and I’ll put you in touch with the owner.

Kostas

I am a puppy of about 3 months. I am looking for a family with a garden to give me room to live and grow. I enjoy going for walks.
I was rescued from Greece (see my facebook page under Kostas Canis) for the story.
I am vaccinated and micro-chipped. I am friendly, good and full of energy and enjoy socialising with other dogs. I am house-trained overnight and understand the loo is outside.
I am looking for someone who loves dogs and wants to spend time with me.

Zip

Zip here is a lovely 2 year old Lab who is an angel indoors and, indeed outdoors provided he has a fence higher than 3ft to keep him in !! However, once out he is rather a little bugger and cats are not safe. His owners, who themselves took him on from an unsuitable home, tearfully have to rehome him now because of the cat problem. So, if you have a well fenced garden and love black Labs – just look at his little face ! – Zip would love to come and play ! Vaccinated, chipped and neutered.
Dave

Meet Dave ! Dave is one very good egg and tries so hard to be good – succeeding most of the time and needing just a little encouragement. At just 7 months old Dave is sadly having to live outside all the time and can have no contact whatsoever with his young master as he seems to provoke asthma attacks. Anyone who has had experience of asthma will know how very distressing this is. A very sad situation for Dave and the young boy so we are hoping that Dave will very very soon find a new family to be loved by. Dave will be chipped, vaccinated and neutered before adoption
Zac

Here we have Zac a four or five year old hunting dog ……..who doesn’t !! Taken in by a kind hunter (yes, they do exist !) who found that Zac is much happier glued to the side of a human rather than running off into the wide blue yonder. At the beginning he rna with the other dogs then looked round and obviously thought “Ooo er, don’t like this much” and ran straight back again !
Chips
Gina
Fashion
ADOPTED !

Beautiful, beautiful Fashion is an Australian Colley about 2 years old. A really gorgeous dog who is very, very obediant. Fashion will be sterilised, vaccinated and chipped before going to her new home. I can’t understand why she hasn’t gone yet and can’t think of enough adjectives to tell you what a super dog she is !!
Zorro
Delphine

Delphine is very dear to us here at Poorpaws. Adopted from us a couple of years ago, Delphine is the mother of my own dear little Eenie who was stolen from me. I was tempted to keep Delphine but was persuaded to let her go to what was at the time a lovely home. Sadly, through no fault of her own, Delphine is soon to be homeless again. About four or five years old, she is sterilised, chipped and vaccinated.
Chelsea

Chelsea was rescued from a refuge by a well meaning English family who now find themselves obliged to return to the UK, dogless. This means that Chelsea, Zorro and Delphine (see below) are all looking for new homes. Chelsea is 5 years old, sterilised, chipped and vaccinated. A truly loving faithful friend Chelsea is nevertheless very timid therefore we would not recommend a home with lively young children. A nice retired couple is what we are looking for here!
Kiki

Little Kiki here really deserves loving home. Rescued once seven years ago when a baby, Kiki has been living with an elderly lady who loves him. However the lady now has to go to live with her daughter who has two Rottweilers who, although good dogs, scare the living shit out of poor Kiki who has started peeing in the home. This was not acceptable so the lady has asked me to find him someone nice to take care of him. He is here at Poorpaws and I can guarantee that the indoor peeing has stopped. He will have a haircut very soon and lose two tiny family jewels, so may end up being “Keek !!”. Totally fine with the dogs here and no worries as far as cats are concerned.
Greta

Greta here is the most adorable dog. A bit of this and a bit of that, we thought she was going to be a giant of a dog but in fact she has not grown much and is the size of a small female labrador. Very friendly, absolutely great with other dogs and cats, 7 month old Greta just wants to be your VERY best friend. Fully vaccinated, chipped and sterilised we are anxious that she finds a good home soon as her best pal Duffy will be leaving Poorpaws early in July.
Bloom

Bella at Poorpaws always get lots of “Ooohs” and “Ahhhs” when people come here but she is just not adoptable. HOWEVER here we have Bloom who looks just like our Bella and is much less complicated – in fact not complicated at all, an absolute darling in fact. At two years old she is fine with other dogs, nervous of cats – but that would soon pass – and is just GREAT with people loving to be cuddled and fussed (possibly for the first time in her life). I can tell you from personal experience that this breed of dogs are lovely.
Andie
Adopted!

Poorpaws has a great record for homing older dogs and we’re hoping that this will continue for Andie here. Andie is ten years old and was at the Narbonne refuge. Because of severe overcrowding there certain dogs were selected for the big sleep and Andie was one. Luckily the lovely Rowan at Carcassonne refuge agreed to take the doomed dogs and give them a chance at her refuge even though there are equally desperate dogs there. I spotted Andie and just couldn’t not try to help. She has a wonderful nature, gets on with everyone and everything, brilliant on the lead and no hang ups. She just wants to have a home where she will be loved and happy (don’t we all ?!). So if there is someone out there has a place for a calm loving oldie, think of me, oops, no sorry, I’m not calm, think rather of Andie.
Simba
Tina

Tina. This lovely girl has been at the refuge at Carcassonne for toooooooooo long, in fact since 2010. Born in August 2006 she is great with other dogs, cats, and children as well as being very beautiful. Good basic obediance skills, quick and willing to learn, the only thing she doesn’t like is being left alone for a long time, then she will try to escape. So if you are looking for a pal for your dog or a gorgeous constant companion, Tina is for you.
Oh, forgot to say, your children driving you nuts ? Then follow this recipe. Take, children, Tina and a ball, mix ingrediants in a garden and leave to play for HOURS ! Tina will love it !
Nawak
Adopted!

Most of you will know that I love Brittany Spaniels and here is a beauty. Two years old Nawak is a lovely boy who has just arrived at the refuge in Cahors. A lively lad Nawak will need a home where he gets plenty of exercise with someone who will finish the education started. Cats are a grey area, but with slow and careful introduction, should be fine.
Duravel pups

These gorgeous things are the result of an accidental coupling between and German Shepherd and a Labrador. (Please, I beg of you, don’t listen to a vet who tells you that your female dog should have one season before sterilisation !!!!!) These are very healthy 5 month old babes whose owners are desperate to find new homes for them.
Shiva
ADOPTED!

Four year old Shiva was found as a puppy with cigarette burns on her little body and shot in her ear. Her life has been happier from then on but now it’s crisis time. Her owners have to move to an apartment and cannot take her. Beagles are just the most adorable dogs and Shiva is no exception. Affectionate, loving, great with children, cats and other dogs, she just needs love and a garden to run around in.
Poppy and pups

Just look at me, aren’t I just the most beautiful mum ?! I’m a young Braque who was either chucked out for getting “into trouble” or I got lost – I’m so frazzled with this brood to look after that I can’t remember ! Anyway my babes will be ready to go to new homes at the end of March (thank goodness !) – one of the brown ones is reserved already – and I’ll be looking for someone to love me too. I’m basically a hunting dog but if you know Braques you will know that we are elegant, intelligent and make wonderful pets. At the moment we are in the 87 department but would be very willing to travel to the right home.
Chocolate Brown Labradors
Stop Press ! Two fabulous chocolate brown female labradors (real ones !) 18 months old needing a new home (together if poss). If you are looking to breed don’t even bother getting in touch, sterilisation condition of adoption. they are GORGEOUS !!
Labrador Pups
Adopted….Adopted……ADOPTED!!!!

Gabi “Well, we’re still here at Poorpaws, been here since the beginning of the year. Can’t understand why no-one wants us.”

Tiny Ben

Ok who is going to relieve me of this little shit ?! A right perisher ! At about two years old tiny Ben has not had much luck. He is already blind in one eye and was found in an apartment alongside his dead owner. If you are looking for a dog to sleep on your bed and sit in your lap all day then Tiny is your boy. However, when not the centre of attention he will bark incessantly and will bark aggressively at any dogs you may encounter on a walk. He hates a collar being put on him and will nip when crossed. Nevertheless, I love him, but he is driving me nuts !!
Porcelaine Pup
Gaston
After being ‘on trial’ for a week, we are happy to say that Gaston has passed with (very almost) flying colours, so, is, ADOPTED !!

Ok how could you get cuter than Gaston ?! A two year old Griffon x, he is fun, affectionate and obedient. Griffons are very popular amongst us Brits, is it the floppy ears or those “please take care of me” eyes ?!
Leonberge Colley
Fionna
VERY VERY URGENT !!!
Many people were sad to see these old boys back on the adoption page, but then a (very) good fairy flew down from Haute Vienne and the boys are receiving loving tender care. ADOPTED !
Well these poor boys thought they had a home to go to – in fact they had a choice of two. Then the first people dropped out and the second in fact only wanted details so that they could be horrid to the owners who are in such a sorry state. Doesn’t it just make you proud to be a human ?!! So the Labs are still looking for a new home. They are in foster care for four weeks but after that their future is uncertain.
These two old boys (11 years) are in a desperate situation. Their owners have gone belly-up bankrupt and are leaving France at the end of the month to stay with friends. No room for these two old gentlemen. They are described as gentle, affectionate and good with other dogs and children. Anyone got a place at the inn ?
Duffy

The other day I was asked if I could possibly take in a two year old female Beagle. Lola had just been adopted so I had a space and agreed. So I went to collect Duffy who turned out to be a six year old Anglo Francais. At least the female part was right !! Apart from the first two ‘mistakes’ everything else I was told about Duffy was correct. She is gorgeous ! Quite a large gangly girl, very affectionate, obedient and timid. She hits the deck if she hears shouting so I think she has known unkindness. Found half starved and covered in ticks she is looking better every day. Duffy is now sterilised, vaccinated and chipped and has never run off whilst out walking, so if you are looking for a largish, loving, softy, Duffy is for you.
