Well, what a GREAT book sale !!

PREPARATION

JUBILIATION !
You were just brilliant. We made 1,865 euros, which with post sale donations has risen to over 2,000 every single euro of which will go to help dogs in need with a donation to an elderly lady who takes care of stray cats. We get a few requests to go back to the coffee and cakes format and I have considered it very carefully. However our Dream Cake and Coffee Team have moved on and I decided to carry on but just with books. Several people have offered to make cakes to sell but it does involve much more. With just doing books we have the whole hall and we don’t have to move the stacks of chairs out of the hall which was always a rotten job. Doing cakes and coffee we would have to sacrifice space for tables and chairs and then there is getting the outside chairs out of storage from elsewhere in the village, the anxiety about the weather and marquee, then, of course, much more clearing up. Just books is much more simple and as I have said before, as we get older, simples is best !
Well, Danielle is back and straight back into work with one of her first calls was an emergency feeding of a troup of hunting dogs who had had nothing to eat for three days following their owner being taken into hospital. Once she has had time to breathe and sort herself out, I will be in touch to get our adoptions page up to date. I will just say that Takar and Urbain are STILL looking for forever homes after 18 months at the refuge.
Our Brittany who has been with us for two months is now a ‘normal’ member of our doggie family (of 12), playing happily with the others and no sign of fear at all. The only thing I haven’t tried yet is walking off lead. She is mainly very good on lead, but when she gets a scent my arm nearly parts company with the socket. Talking of walks, we are againcoming up to the time of year – April 15th to 30th June – where you are not allowed to walk dogs off lead in wooded and forest areas. This is because the wildlife are giving birth and the last thing they need is to be chased by dogs.I know a lot of people don’t take notice of this but, if you get caught there is a huge fine and believe you me you do NOT want your dog coming home with a baby deer or boar in its’ mouth.
Ernst has a date for his hip operation (16th May) thank GOODNESS, he has been such a miserable beggar that I was seriously considering of asking the hospital to put DNR on his paperwork. However, as the date gets nearer he is cheering up so perhaps I’ll let him off !!
Finally Voulez Vous have a great evening ? The ABBA evening which had to be postponed due to illness is rescheduled for 26th April. 8pm at Montaigu de Quercy. Lots of fun guaranteed.
