5TH JANUARY 2025

Well that’s 2024 done and dusted ! Let’s hope that 2025 will be better, but it has not started off too well. Fingers crossed.

I hope you all had a good Festive Season and are not entering the New Year with kilos to lose and regrets when you count out the bottles you take to the bottle bank ! Ours was quite quiet in the end. My pal Susie came over from England and we missed out on a group Christmas lunch on her first day as, although she arrived on the Thursday, her luggage didn’t arrive until Saturday, we having stayed in on Friday waiting. A drinks party was cancelled due to the hostess not being well but we managed a few fun get togethers. The weather was mostly horrid, damp, misty and foggy at times, so I make no apologies for us spending too much time binge watching The Morning Show and playing cards. Dog walking was our daily exercise, whatever the weather !

The ‘bestest’ news is that Shannon, the two year old Malinois cross has been adopted and gone to a fabulous home where her new owners have knowledge of the breed and will give Shannon the excercise, education and love she will benefit from. On the other end of the scale we have Takar and Urbain both of whom have been at La Mere aux Betes for over a year now without having been lucky enough to get chosen. Both are lovely dogs and in order to give them an extra chance Danielle has put them up for a ‘no fee’ adoption, in the hope that perhaps someone who has a great home to offer but can only offer a donation rather than the full fee, will come forward.

I hope you all have exciting projects or plans for the New Year, we can plan nothing as we are waiting for Ernst to have a hip replacement operation. After years of me asking him to get it done and he refusing, he is now so crippled (and grumpy) he has finally agreed. However, he went to the wrong place for his blood tests and the wrong clinic for his Xrays, so I’m rather anxious that when he finally gets a date, he might turn up at the vet rather than the hospital !!!! Men !

Happy New Year have a great one.

Sue x
