FROM THIS..

........ TO THIS

Every picture tells a
story! Mr. No-name from the last edition now has the
fabulous name of Dexter and is finally enjoying life
with Wendy and Duncan!! The kleenex were in demand on
that happy adoption day I can tell you.
Last month has to be one
of the happiest in the history of Poorpaws as three
previously very unhappy dogs were adopted from the
refuges at Figeac and Carcasonne. If you do not see a
dog who appeals to you here at Poorpaws, I do beg you to
go to your local S.P.A. I know they can be
upsetting places to visit (I cry buckets any time I go),
but just bite the bullet, think of the poor dogs rather
than your own feelings and imagine the wonderful feeling
you will have if you take one poor dog away to a happy
home. Poorpaws has good friends who work hard to help
the dogs at the Figeac and Carcassonne refuges and they
will be more than happy to 'hold your hand' during your
visit and help with paperwork. For Figeac get in touch
with Louise on 0565409282 to make arrangements and for
Carcassonne, Rowan will be more than happy to meet you,
call her on 0434582931.
Now it's sound off time. Here at Poorpaws we are more than happy to help you
rehome your dog and will do all we can. All we ask is
that you let us know if other arrangements are made so
we do not waste time for nothing. We don't ask for a
donation - one is usually offered in desperation in
return for help but is rarely seen even if we are
successful!! Recently we were asked to help home two
dogs as the owners had been unsuccessful and were
returning to the UK in two days. TWO DAYS!! I spent a
lot of time, made lots of calls, sent emails and was
successful in finding a temporary home. Arrangements
were made and the dogs were to arrive the following
day. The foster carer waited in all day but no dogs
arrived and no calls received. Finally I rang and spoke
to the owner asking where the dogs were. "Oh, they've
gone somewhere else" was the reply. I started to
remonstrate and to say they could have let us know, when
I was shouted at and had the 'phone slammed down on me.
(Are you reading this Mr. McW.?) I have to admit I
sent a rude email and got an even ruder one back
describing me as a "vile, classless woman". This is
possibly true but I think you get my point!!
Right, back to business! Have a look at this edition's hopefuls - they're all
gorgeous:

Here we have two lovely dogs
who are desperate to leave Figeac before they are relegated
to the 'no hope' parks where there are fewer visitors. Who
can resist Diouk the lovely 18 month Beagle - perhaps
crossed with something else - who looks a real friendly
little chap and three year old Bambou and impressive Griffon
cross who looks so lonely and sad..

Well here we have another
'no-name' from Carcasonne - for a better picture go to
http://spacarcassonne.e-monsite.com/accueil.html where he is
dog of the month. This poor lad is three years old and has been
at the refuge for two of those three. He is of indeterminate
breed (aren't those the best?!) and needs a calm patient owner.
Fine with other dogs and a people lover, he has been enclosed
for so long that he gets anxious when taken for a walk and keeps
turning round to make sure no-one has taken his kennel
away. Wouldn't it be great if he had a happy home which he knew
would be there waiting for him whenever! Please contact Rowan
(see number above) to go and see Mr. No-Name.

Lovely Elisa four months old is
just a darling. A bundle of fun she is vaccinated to date and
housetrained and is the last of the litter to find a home.
Adopted !! Elisa has
her bags packed ready to go to the
Cote 'Azur!!! She'll probably be so posh she won't talk to us
country bumpkins any more !!

Cracking little Evie is
looking for a new home as her elderly owners find they
cannot give her the time and exercise that she needs. Very
lively little Evie is fine with other dogs, children ( a bit
speedy with cats but young enough to learn) and is
vaccinated, sterilised and has a passport.

Fabulous Rex is a German Shepherd
crossed with something a bit ginger! Two year old Rex is
vaccinated and neutered and is an absolute delight. Fine with
other dogs he is very obedient and never happier than when
playing ball. A faithful, loving dog, we are hoping Rex will
very soon find a happy home where he will get the exercise and
love he so deserves.

Tega was rescued and brought
to Poorpaws with her nine pups.
They have all been homed and
now we are hoping that Tega, having carried out her motherly
duties brilliantly and now sterilised, will be lucky.
Starved of affection up to now, she is overflowing with love
and just wants to be by your side gazing lovingly into your
eyes. Six year old Tega is very obediant and lists her
hobbies as long walks and protecting a warm fireside.

Here is my sorrowful "please
adopt me" look

You won't find a finer profile than this ! |
Evan is a right character ! I
think 'enthusiastic' would be the best description of
him! Now nine months, Evan had been homed but came back as
he was too bouncy for small children. A very affectionate
dog, Evan will lick you to death given half a chance and has
a permanant 'wiggle' which makes even "sit" difficult for
him (but he does try very hard !! ). For Evan we
are looking for a home where he will have either a four
legged friend or full time human companion/s as he does not
like to be alone. Lots of exercise is hoped for for this
lovable dog who is vaccinated, chipped and neutered. The
stitches on his side are the result of Evan finding out to
his cost that he really is now too big to get through the
metal cat flap !!!

Esther is the last of a litter
of seven. All her brothers and sisters have moved on an we
are hoping that Esther will soon find a happy home of her
own. A real mongrel mutt when she arrived as a babe at
Poorpaws, Esther is transforming into a beautiful lady with
German Shepherd colouring and almost unbelievable soft fur.
At five months Esther is vaccinated and chipped and has a
lovely nature.

Four year old Bill is sadly up for
adoption due to family problems. A sort of Lab cross ( isn't
every dog ?!) Bill is a great family dog getting on very well
with other dogs, cats, children and, even, chickens!! He does
however need a fenced in garden having a bit of the wanderer in
him. If you think Bill is for you, please contact his foster
carers direct on 0562354885.
